Hello everyone!
I will be writing about the Urban Decay (UD) Naked 1 palette. I got this as a gift from Jenn and I love it! THANK YOU JENN ♥
PACKAGING:
The outside of the palette has a velvet texture, which I am not a big fan of because I personally do not like the feeling of that texture. The casing is made out of cardboard/paper-like material, but it is not too bad since it feels nice to the touch and it feels sturdy as well. Also, the casing has strong magnets at the openings, which will keep the shadows secure. The palette also has a small mirror on the lid, which is a decent size if you use it to see your eyes when putting on the shadows.
Also, there was a brush that came with the palette and it feels so soft and so good to the touch. The brush has a flat, pointy tapered side and a thicker, less compact/dense side. The flat tapered side is good for packing on eyeshadow and using it for the outer corner of the lids. The thicker, less dense side is good for blending make up and putting on some shadows as well.
WEAR/FORMULA:
I usually wear these with an eyelid primer because my eyelids do get oily a lot due to the nature of how my lids are. With that being said, I have not tried these without a primer. Therefore, with the eyelid primer, the shadows stayed put on my lids and still looked nice after a long day of going out and about.
These shadows aren't too powdery or too creamy, but it is creamy enough that it just felt so good on my fingers, skin, and eyelids. Their texture makes them blend-able and easy to apply without needing too much product or pressure to get your desired color. Overall, the formula of these shadows are very high quality.
I think the colors provided in this palette is good for everyday makeup wear. You have some neutral brown colors, some shimmer, some highlight colors, and some dark colors that aren't too dramatic. However, I do wish that there were more matte shades in this palette because there are more shimmer (9) than matte (3) shades, which makes it a little less versatile.
When I swatched these, they were pigmented, especially the darker colors. For some of the lighter colors, I think you would have to build it up if you want it to look as dark as how the shadows look on the palette. Colors I had to build up to give more pigmentation in the swatches include: sin, naked, sidecar, and buck. However, they were still visible and had color before building it up, which is good if you want the specific color to not be too dark :)
The colors in this palette include (from left to right):
Virgin, Sin, Naked, Sidecar, Buck, Half Baked,
Smog, Darkhorse, Toasted, Hustle, Creep, and Gunmetal
SWATCHES:
Although I dislike the velvet texture of the outside of this palette's casing, I think the colors and texture of the shadows are lovely. It's the inside that counts, right? :) I think this is great for those who want a palette that can be used everyday and/or neutral looks. Also, it could be good for people who just started getting into make up (like me) and for those who would like to start off with neutral to slight dramatic looks before they start to do more dramatic eye makeup.
Once again, THANK YOU, JENN FOR THIS AWESOME PALETTE! :D ♥
I hope you find this review helpful!
